It really takes a village!!
After 20 years of growing food in the Similkameen Valley, we are grateful as a business to be able to give back to the community through this program.
We chose to focus on single parent families as recipients of ‘paid for’ organic produce in 2022 based on Annamarie’s experience as a single mom in the late 90’s. We also saw this offering as a great opportunity to contribute to enhanced levels of food security in our region…especially as the cost of growing, selling, and purchasing food continues to rise dramatically year after year.
Remarkably, this spring, our community came together to secure enough funds for 12 families in the Similkameen Valley as well as the soup kitchen at the Keremeos Community Church to receive weekly produce boxes from our farm free of charge in the 2022 high season.
Specifically, Klippers Organics will be sponsoring four shares. The remainder of the shares have been funded by local community members/businesses and Vancouver Farmer’s Market customers (all who have chosen to be kept anonymous).
It has been extremely heartwarming to experience our community coming together in order to bring this project to such a success.
Thank you to everyone who took part in our fundraising and sponsorships initiatives. We are very glad to be celebrating our 20th year of farming in the Similkameen Valley through this program!
This was the first time we have done something like this, but based on response, it certainly won’t be our last. Again, thank you!!!
Sincerely,
The whole Klippers gang!
